Why would my phone line work but not my DSL?

It had been working fine for years. But one morning I woke up and the DSL was just not doing anything. It's in the same jack and the equipment was all replaced and confirmed to be in working order. Internet service options for outlying area?

I work for a NPO, the internet access at our youth camp in Palestine, Texas is via satellite and painfully slow on its best days. Its better than dial up I guess but not by a whole lot. My 50 meg broadband 12 month contract finished with Virgin about 2 months ago at the time when I took it out the price was �45 ( Without the phone line ) the thing is the same package is know �35 ( without the phone line ) So I rang up Virgin and was told that I would have to leave Virgin Broadband for 90 days and join again after 90 days to be able to get 50MB at �35 I mean is this right ? Also 100MB broadband is available in my area and if I upgrade to that I would have to pay �10 extra on top of the �45 and the total would be �55 a month even though 100MB Broadband is �45 a month without a phone line. So I don't no if I should leave Virgin for 90 days and then join them after 90 days and go for the 100MB at �45 ? Please can someone help me is there any other way around this ? I received 2 emails in my Yahoo mail, and there were attachments, attached but my?

Yahoo mail wouldn't let me open the pictures. I clicked on "properties" and it went to a screen that said "general", but under everything it said none! I am new to Yahoo mail, used to use my ISP address, and I am on dial-up so my connection is very slow, but that never stopped me being able to open pictures/attachments in my ISP email. Ram is not the problem.4 GB ram is good enough to handle any game.But the problem is with the processor and graphics card.It has pentium E5800 dual core processor which has now become outdated.Most of the new games require core 2 duo or core 2 quad processor.But it can handle games like cod waw,cod 4 and mine craft.Now coming to the graphics.It is really poor card for gaming purpose.It can handle games like cod world at war but not cod black ops.Yes,it can easily handle minecraft.

Well basically i am starting to have a hate for Caucasians. I do not want to become what i have always despised but i feel it is starting to creep up on me. It is starting to effect the way i view people i find myself making stupid comments whenever i see a white person make a mistake or perform reckless behavior. When they ask stupid questions, i give stupid answers and they view me as the one with attitude. Im finding myself to have less friends because they cannot be trusted. I feel whites have issues that they will not talk about. Instead they will talk about you behind your back to others and act like everything is ok but you can tell that something is not right but on the internet you see the true side. Blacks will talk behind your back then will act mean and snobby because they really dont like you. Then if you make them mad once they will blow the sh*t way out of proportion when you didnt think there was a problem to began with. I am not trying to be funny at all. A family moved in next door to me about 4 or 5 months ago. The whole family is kinda strange but their son really creeps me out. Fix download speeds to be faster?

I am currently using Clear 4g highest rate service which is still almost as bad as dial-up... Anyways, I can start a download going at around 150kbs and it'll slow down, for example. Starts at 121.9kbs, it'll go down by .1kbs at a rapid pace. Any clue on how to fix it? This happens when the downloads are just going without any web pages up too. I am also using Google Chrome

Inexpensive ways to keep spiders out of the house?

I am really scared of spiders. Not so much that it's a phobia but they do creep me out a lot. Ever since we moved into the apartment we are in I have had to kill at least one spider each day (that's not an exaggeration). My landlord is cheap and won't invest in pest control so I have to do it myself. I have a one year old and am expecting another baby in November so I don't want to have to use any chemicals to get rid of the spiders. Is there a more natural way to get rid of the creepy crawlies? Why do I always make a mean face at people I don't know?

I've noticed before that when I'm out somewhere people make really mean faces at me! I know that probably sounds really stupid but it's true, lol. Wee'd out of my window...!?

Basically, i took a leak out of my window. Yeaa.....Well my parents are mad and i live in a small house so whenever i keep getting out of my room they scream and shout at me and i needed a leak so bad, so i did it out my window. How do I live with my mom when she hates me and i hate her?

no im not lying. She really does hate me. There is something mentally wrong with her (professional people have said this) and anyone can see it. She left my dad after 18 years, and they are in there second year of getting divorced. I think girls think I'm ugly, and I don't know what to do?

So I always thought myself as attractive till about 13~ and then I started blaming things for my unattractiveness. First, it was my acne, but now that's pretty controlled. Then, I thought it was my nose because my nose is kinda big (not like a circus freak big or anything) but really when it comes down to it I think its my overall face structure. I have short very dark brown hair, average brown eyes, a very protruded brow ridge (my biggest insecurity), average ears, very defined jawline (little less than Brad Pitt), and pretty nice lips (not thin). I am super nice to girls I think because it's so hard to get one to even pay attention to me, but not overly nice to where I would creep them out. I am average at talking to girls, and am especially funny. I wear cologne, make sure I have good breath, and wear clothes in style. I am 6 feet tall, 16 years old, and 150-160ish pounds, with a slightly muscular build and really no fat. The few times I get girl's numbers I always get the feeling they wanna be just friends because they call me "best friend" and send hearts really early on, something which you wouldn't do to someone you have feelings for. Also girls always joke around calling me sexy, and trust me I know they're not serious it's a recurring joke. Legal question about Internet?

My parents live in a rural area of West Virginia on top of a mountain... They currently only have access to satellite or dial-up Internet. The company that has rights to the area has tried several times to install cable lines up the mountain in order to allow high-speed Internet and cable to reach my parents and their neighbors (about 100 people in all). One man who lives at the bottom of the mtn refuses to allow the cable company to install the posts needed to run the cable. Everytime they set the posts, he digs them up or cuts them off in the middle of the night. Several people have tried to talk to him with no resolution. The cable company says that they looked into burying the cable but there was a problem with that and it will not be a solution. I know that there is a law that even when you own roadside property a small amt closest to the road is still owned by the state, the problem here is that the bank is drastically sloped and the posts do have to go onto the man's property slightly. The man is demanding $25,000 to install 3 posts on his land as well as a monthly fee. The cable company is refusing to pay, therefore my parents and their neighbors are left with the headache. Anybody have any ideas of what can be done about this?

Just installed Windows 7... Need some help getting Wi-fi?

I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit on my IBM ThinkPad T42, and I have no idea how to connect to Wi-fi hotspots. I know that the computer is indeed capable of connecting to a hotspot, as I had Windows XP professional prior to Windows 7 (which came with the computer) and I could connect. The internet options on my computer are only Broadband and dial-up. I didn't think anyone used dial up anymore and I don't even know what 'Broadband' means. The unsecured wireless hotspot I used before with Windows XP I don't think even belongs to us. There is absolutely NO way to connect my computer to the internet right now (I am writing this on a Mac which uses the same wi-fi network I want to connect my ThinkPad to). I have literally no idea how to do anything with 'drivers' or whatever those are. So would anybody be so kind as to post idiot friendly step by step instructions on how to get wi-fi on my computer? Also, when I try to turn on my wi-fi with the hardware switch (which is actually just the keyboard command "Fn+F5") Nothing happens, the indicator light stays off, no lights come on, no indication of anything. Anybody have any idea?

4G LTE through Verizon & Xbox Live.?

Recently, my dad bought one of the 4G LTE Modems from Verizon wireless, because we were getting sick and tired of crappy dial-up(yes it's around). I haven't played Live on the connection mainly because I'm not sure if it would be fast enough to allow me to play online, and two because we only have a 10gig a month limit. This is really a two part question. 1) Would the speeds be adequate enough so that I wouldn'y lag out all the time? 2) Roughly how much memory is used when playing online?

Wrongfully arrested for murder, what now?

We all know there are a number of people probably now in prison who were charged with a crime they didn't commit. We've heard the stories of people being freed 20 years after they've spent time in prison for murder. Sad stories. Lets pretend you are convicted of a murder you didn't commit. However, the evidence is stacked against you even though you are the wrong person. So the evidence is stacked against the perpetrator but you are the person who was at the wrong place at the wrong crime. Since nobody believes you and only believes what the evidence shows, and you're about to have your life freedoms and rights stolen from you, how do you handle that? Going to spend life in prison for a crime you know you never committed?

How do you connect to xbox live with an aol dial up system?

I have dial up using aol. Can someone please tell me how to get onto xbox live like this? I don't care about how slow it is cause I probably won't be playing multiplayer much. Just stuff like talking to friends, etc.. So can you please tell me how to do this?

Trying to understand what a wireless adapter is? Need a access point?

I just got a laptop it can go online wireless. I dont have a modem or and PC. I'm trying to get online with my laptop at home.Not using dial up. I dont know how to get my own access point. Do I have to get it from a phone company? Is there something I can buy to give me an access point? Do I need to have a Desktop to use it? If there is something that can give me an access point will there be a monthly charge? Is there a free route? I'm having a hard time understanding. I just want my laptop online without dial up, a modem, desktop pc and using other peoples wifi. How can I do this?

My Sky Broadband is Sooooo Slow?

Well we got sky broadband a little while ago about 5 or 6 months now, it is unlimited and we are supposed to get 6-7mbps, but instead we get speeds more like 0.88mbps, that was when i done a check at 1:42PM today, I am soooo pissed of becoz we are paying �12 a month for worse than dial-up speeds! my mum will not ring sky and I DO NOT no why. and the stuff I do, online gaming, watching TV online, download A LOT of stuff, I need speed, what can I do to speed up the internet?? the only thing that is not to bad is my ping right now its 156ms. thnx in advance xD

i tried calling the CIA from the number they give on there web site i called twice on my cell phone and each time i got a tone like when you try using the phone with dial up internet and some one is on the internet.

trying to connect to internet but this old etower 433i machine only has dial up for regular telephone not ethernet is there some type of adapter or do i need to upgrade the whole computer? or should i get rid of it n get a new one?

What does this extremely bizzare dream mean if anything?

so i had this really really wierd dream last night. it started with me walking to my highschool, its like a 15 mile walk, so i dont know why. when i got there i walked into this massive party that everyone from school i knew was there. all my friends were in the back talking amongst themselves im not sure why. then one came up and yelled for better music, so eddie van halen stepped up on the stage and started soloing. i jumped up with him and started screaming and dancing until this really druggy kid from my school i used to talk to came up and told me to go to the gym. so i did and there was a volleyball match going on and my ex girlfriend who just broke up with me last week was there apparently on the team. she looked up at me laughed and turned around. i walked out of the gym to avoid having to talk with her and walked into this really small room about 20 kids were sitting in, most of them friends. then my ex texted me and said she was breaking up with me, even though we were already broken up.i walked outside to a cool, fall, night. i looked up at the sky then at my school and looked around for a minute at my school, which was pretty realistic and i remembered a lot of detail. but i walked over to a dark patch where my friends gf was just sitting smiling. when she saw me she ran away, i chased after her and asked where she was going, she didnt say anything so i stopped and then her bf appeared and chased after her as i watched. then i walked away down the road and somehow showed up at my exes house. my first girlfriend and like 5 other people i didnt know were also there and they were getting ready to go to a party or something. when my ex noticed me she smiled, asked what i was doing and then asked me to leave. i told her i didnt mean to creep on her i had an important reason for being there. she asked what and i dont think i responded, then she left me alone. then my first girlfriend saw me, yelled my name came up and gave me a hug and then walked away like nothing ever happened. my dream ended with everyone leaving except my exes younger brother who was being babysat by some gothic kid ive never seen. i started to leave and then my ex came in stared at me for a long moment, and i looked into her eyes, and then shut the door walking away.

Thoughts on a piece I wrote for my English class?

very good, but after one read its seems more descriptive of her environment than of her character and when you have to start talking abt her character with "julia was an intuitive girl...." it seems very blunt and in complete contrast to the description of her environment which flows like water. you are very good at description of the surroundings, use that to bring out the character. the character development seems very blocky, merge it with the rest of the text. when u describe the grass or the bushes bring out her thoughts abt how she believes there are secrets hidden behind them, in them/it and how when the wind blew she wanted to follow it to see where it went to see perchance where it began,< this is just a crude example to describe her curious character, her determination, start it off smoothly, ease into the character. ( i hope this helps somehow, i would want to read further)

Will this work? Boyfriend advice please!?

So ok me and my boyfriend kinda broke up, why do i say kinda? Because it seems he breaks up with me before major events but soon gets right back together with me. Like seriously the day before we hung out all was good the next day he just randomly flipped...(he does this every few months...) The longest we ever broke up was a month and that whole month we were fighting over text and fighting in school and i was begging him back and he did come back and this time I've just decide fighting isn't worth it i just haven't texted him in three days or seen him or anything, what makes me most upset is the fact I don't want to fight for us, I just want him to see how much he hurt me and say sorry and i don't know if I want us to get back together but i just want to see if he will text me and at least say sorry. Has this worked ever for you? This is the longest we've ever not spoken to each other (weird but w.e. lol). His status last night was "not feeling great =/ laying down watching movies" maybe it wasn't about us but he is creeping on my facebook =P and w.e. so I just was wondering did this work for you and how long before your ex contacted you? I'm giving him two weeks tops than giving up hope lol.

Internet addiction! need help! it starts out very subtle.?

I find myself coming on the computer alot more over the past month. This can't be a good thing. i used to do this before over two years ago but then quit for like two years partly because i was super busy. I find myself creeping into the same situation slowly. i want to break this addiction again. it starts out very subtle then increases.

So I like this person. Ive never talked to this person before but I would ALWAYS see this person. & everytime we would always look at each other, I woud feel this vibe from this person, like if that person liked me but was too shy to talk to me. So on this holiday I went to that persons class & gave that person a gift. That person took that gift & said Thank You with a smile & walked back to class. That person never came up to me never said anything to me after but that person would still look at me with the vibe. Why does society often tend to blame the victim?

I notice this is a trend all over the world. Women who are raped whilst drunk are often blamed for being raped for having one too many... In certain countries even little girls who get raped are accused of asking for it. When Pakistan bombs India, India is blamed when they fight back. When Palestine bombs Isreal, Isreal is blamed for fighting back. When children who are abused emotionally or physically by their parents fight back, other family members try to blame them for not being quiet about being abused by their family members.... Millions of examples. What is it about human nature that tends towards blaming the victim rather than the perpetrator?

How to convice my mom to let me get faster internet?

i want to play xboxlive soo bad but,sadly,we have Earthlink dial-up speed 56kps and for xbox live to work you need at leat 1mpb dial-up that we use is about 13$ and i found a 1mpb charter deal for 25$ a month,but i asked my mom and she said no she said that we only need the computer for homework and things like that i do homwork on the computer on wensdays and my almost a senior brother might need to use it more. and i could realy like playing xbox live instead of sitting at home all day on saturdays how can i convince her? p.s. she thinks 25$ a month is alot of money?!

How can I sleep well without thinking about my crush?

For three years I had a classmate I knew, she is currently 16 but when I met her she was like 9 or 10. Anyway we went to the same elementary school together for one whole year and then I never saw her again... or so I thought, when I went to this new school three yeas ago I met up with her again, I was 11 and she was 14, strangely enough I kinda thought she was cute, for some reason I actually thought she was cute, but that kinda makes sense 'cause I'm growing up, so, as time progressed I saw her more differently every day until the year was over. The next year I wound up riding with her and her family everyday to school and back. my parents don't have time to take me to school everyday so I ride with her, and every day I started talking and getting to know her and I thought she was cool and then I soon realized I had a crush on her! I was shocked to realize this, what's worse, that same year there was this other guy who flew all the way from the Philippines showed up and me and my class thought he was cool but then later on he told me in front of my face he liked her too. I was shocked and devastated, so, I played it cool and told him okay, he didn't find out that I liked her too so I was happy about that. I kept this a secret to myself for a whole year, and then he got to talk to her and got to know her and I guess you could say I was a little jealous... a little... so eventually another year has passed and I became a freshman and she became a sophomore, the whole year I became a jerk, a weirdo, and a creep to everyone I knew at school, they knew me as a young, short, immature, annoying, little kid, and as soon as I tried to change my image from immature to tough, mean, and aloof, I immediately became a jerk to everyone, they all were used to me being an annoying, little goofball, who'd knew? So anyway during the middle of the year I was so tired of keeping my secret a secret because my friends were so nosy I had to let it out; man, what a bummer! turns out they already knew the whole time... they claimed I may have let out some clues and I guess it was pretty obvious, so yeah, it was a bummer...later on the year like at the last three or four weeks before graduation she invited me to her church, that's right, we're christian, so I went to her church, and I met some familiar faces, anyway after that day, I don't know what happened but for some reason she wouldn't talk to me, when I would talk to her she would talk back but in a "I don't want to talk to you right now" kind of way, I didn't do anything wrong either! What in the world? So this happened for two weeks, maybe three, and every night thes past two to three years, I couldn't sleep, now it's the last two, three days of school, This Is Where The Crazy Thing Happens! three days of school left and the day just ended, we are waiting for our ride, who comes and picks us up? Her jerk of a brother! I have had a grudge against her older brother for a while now, the whole ride I was angry for no apparent reason, and I think I may have been a little too hard but I was angry. As soon as we reached my house he said bye but she didn't. I got out the car, got my bags from the trunk, and I have no Idea how this happened but apparently I have become strong, so strong I don't know my own strength, and everyone has noticed it, I slam the trunk by accident, and she is like "Don't slam the trunk next time",and because she hadn't talked to me I thought it's payback time, so instead of saying okay, I gave her a thumbs up...bad idea, she must have thought I was giving her the finger, when she saw my thumbs up she yelled out "I'm calling your parents to tell them we're not picking you up anymore...that broke me... she never was so angry like that before, not to me at least, I was crushed, and I realized what I had to do, so I went all the way to her house just to apologize, that didn't work, as a matter of fact, she found me even more creepy than I already seemed. As soon as I was done, I left her house and I soon found myself at my old school where I first met her, and I cried, and I went back home. It's been five weeks since then and yesterday I went online to google images cause I was bored and I typed my crush's name and there she was with the guy who had a crush on her too, and I flipped. So here I am at 12:30 a.m. typing the details of my question to figure out how to forget her and the images of her in my head, because I can't sleep please help me, I am exhausted, depressed, and in love... please help me, and thank you for your cooperation.
